Weekend gravel grind
« on: May 11, 2018, 02:11:41 PM »
Anyone fancy a 60km gravel ride over the weekend? Have an idea for a 100km route but might break it up first into smaller chunks to test it out. Mostly cycle paths, tow paths, back roads and farm tracks or fire roads.

The short version is up the Neath Valley and down the Swansea with a hilltop foray in between. Still kind of working on the route.

I could be, but wary of slowing you skinny wheeled folk down.
The realisation that I need to do a LOT of training for Gritfest is starting to dawn. (7 rides this year isn't great prep!) 60 or 100k seems okay.

I can't do Saturday but Sunday ok. Start from BP 10.30 sounds good Jon.

No big rocks though Andy! Or loose stuff I need some speed.

10:30 Sunday sounds good. It's cycle path and towpath to Aberdulais. Then road out past Crynant. We turn off into the forestry and forestry roads up and over into Cilybebyl. Then road to Rhos and down to Pontardawe where we pick up the cycle path back to Swansea.

If we're feeling fresh, we could do a detour before we reach Crynant, turn off into the forestry and fire road climb up onto Sarn Helen then a short way along Sarn to check the condition of the roads up there. Then back the way we came and on up to Crynant.

Unless, of course, anyone fancies something else ? I'm pretty easy.  8) ;)
