Deliberately placed logs on trails
« on: September 01, 2016, 10:36:26 PM »
This evening we came across four or five large logs that had been deliberately placed across MuddyErks. One was heavy enough that it took two of us to move it, one was placed just around a ninety degree corner. Also, two tree's branches had been pulled down across  the lower section - the bricky bit. They seem to have been deliberately pulled down to head/throat height when on the bike. (The trees had also been damaged in the process.  :-\ )

Whoever did it seems to be aiming at injuring riders - why else would they be placed around a bend, or in the rollers?

Be careful. If you catch anyone doing this try and take pictures of them on your phone and pass them on to the police.

More logs and pulled down branches on Muddy Erks last night. Not as bad as last week but still. No photos I'm afraid as it was pouring down and very dark. Me and Justin cleared the trail and went on with our mission to cover ourselves with as much mud as possible.

Has anyone got any camouflage gear you could dress up in, hide in the woods and take pictures of these people? :)

Another log across muddy erks tonight. Well, half a tree. Massive thing right across the track and a branch on street snapped and pulled down.

It was just after the rollers. And just after that was the pulled down part of a tree.

Glad you didn't come across anything today. Seems a pretty regular Thursday night occurrence recently.

There was a report on BBC Welsh news at 6.30 that Caerphilly mountain is having the same problem - people blocking trails with logs, etc. A camera trap caught someone who looks like Ron Davies (ex MP) carrying logs into the tracks.

Maybe Ron's been down here. I wonder if Clapham Common is clear of logs?

Anyway, NRW is just advising both sides to play nicely and talk...

Ha, that was my first thought as well. Was that his excuse for his 'mistake' on Clapham Common?
