A question about pads
« on: February 05, 2016, 10:20:37 PM »
No, not the women's ones.

What's the difference between the types of pads, apart from the way they are farmed. I've seen organic, sintered and semi metallic. Any particular type I should go for? Big range of prices too.

Oh dear!

Sintered for winter for me (that's most of the time then) Organic (softer for summer), but I use them sometimes in the wet and they squeal like a pig... They don't last long either.

As for types I like the Shimano if a bit pricey, uberbikes I find hard to bed in, older types of superstars I found ok .

I use sintered all year round.  Organic are softer and supposed to give better feel but you can go on a gritty ride with 25% pad left and come home with metal on metal! :-[ You can get others such as kevlar race compound but again life spans are short.

Thanks, I'll get some sintered ones then. Superstar and Uberbike both have a 4 pack for about 23 so I might give one of them a try.

Superstars sintered pads for me. Don't bother with the arctic finned pads though, waste of money

I use sintered too. Is it ever not muddy?
