Bontrager 24hrs. 23rd/24th July 2016
« on: November 30, 2015, 09:29:01 PM »
Looking forward to long, warm summer days (or possibly the heavy rain reminded me!) brought my mind round to the Bontrager 24hrs.

Just thought i'd do a quick check to see if anyone is interested again this year?

(paraphrased from last years post, as i'm lazy  ::) )

Quote
It works out at about 40-50 per person. It's a 24hr race. It's good craic as we might say if we were Irish. It's in Devon and camping is included for 4 nights. And we'll probably go for a gentle warm-up on the Friday.
Beer, BBQs, bikes, camping, a bit of a race. What more do you need?

I wont lie, it was pretty wet last year, but was very warm the year before!

Same as Rob, i'm not sure what i'm doing that time next year but if i'm not riding anywhere else then i'll likely try riding this!*

*As long as Jon doesn't get to organise the gentle warm up ride on Friday
Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race - H G Wells (possibly)

To be fair to her, I'm racing one more cx race this winter and then 8 xc races by July, and have announced plans to race a full cx season next winter too so she may, just maybe, have a point  :-[

So we have a 4 man team. What are our chances of raising enough interest for a 2nd team?  We'd have a great camp if we fielded 2 teams! ;)

All booked and entered.
Its good fun as it is - two teams would make for a real good craic!

Just a reminder, with four months to go, that we have space for five in the team, and only four definites, so if anyone wants to commit to joining us they'd be more than welcome.

It works out at 40ish, which includes entry to the event, free camping from Thursday until Monday in a nice part of south Devon and some freebies. (Not sure what they are this year but I've heard rumour of a t-shirt!) The course isn't massively technical but it's very entertaining - if it keeps Tristan interested it must be good.  ;) There tends to be entertainment, bands, free cheese and beer, that sort of thing. I've never had a bad weekend at 24/12.

So, first come first served and all that....
